Foothill Landfill
Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan

Page 66
include deepening the sediment basin and stabilizing it with vegetation; modifying the
discharge pipe to allow for more impoundment and to discharge from the surface of
impounded water; stabilizing with vegetation portions of the borrow area that are not
active; and providing a perimeter sediment control measure between the borrow area
and the sediment basin. These improvements should help prevent future TSS
exceedances and help control the amount of iron discharged from the site at ST-3.
3. Perform additional internal sampling and analytical testing of water and soil samples
to be able to understand how iron is being introduced to storm water runoff.
The following are the tasks planned for the Level 2 ERA Plan implementation. However, the
tasks and schedule are subject to change based on the results and conclusions of the
investigative testing.
Table 12.3.1.C – Level 2 ERA Plan Tasks and Schedule
Drainage
Area
Task Objective Implementation
Date
ST-6 (H) Remove all industrial activities
including the e-waste collection
bins, the small “bone yard” of parts
and tires, and the small shed that
contains maintenance related
hazardous materials.
To convert this drainage area to all
non-industrial and to eliminate the
ST-6 sampling.
April 1, 2018
ST-1 and
ST-7
Remove these non-industrial
discharge points from the sampling
program.
To eliminate these non-industrial
monitoring points.
Effective
immediately
ST-3 (C) Collect soil samples from the
drainage area and test for the
presence of iron.
