SOP No. 210 <br /> Page 2 of 7 <br /> 1.2 Objective <br /> The objective of soil sample description is to provide consistent geological information <br /> useful for the purpose of hydrogeological or geotechnical evaluation of a site. The Unified <br /> Soil Classification System (USCS) is the suggested classification method. <br /> 1.3 Equipment <br /> The following equipment may be necessary during soil description activities: <br /> • sand grading chart; <br /> • field log book or forms as required by related SOPS; <br /> • pocket knife, spoon, small spatula; <br /> • folding ruler or yard stick; <br /> • portable table; <br /> • polyethylene sheeting; <br /> • hand lens; <br /> • deionized water in squeeze bottle; <br /> • required personal protective equipment(gloves, boot, eye wear, hard hat, etc.); <br /> • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and air monitoring equipment as required by <br /> HASP; <br /> • duct tape; and <br /> • boring logs (if applicable). <br /> 2.
