2.3 Documentation
• Utility location plans (if available);
• Site plans;
• Camera;
• DFRs;
• Health and Safety tailgate forms;
• Soil boring logs;
• Groundwater sampling forms;
• Instrument calibration logs; and
• COC documentation.
2.4 Proiect Planning
Preparation and set-up for soil borings, sub-surface sampling, and groundwater sampling
will include the following:
1. Soil boring permits will be obtained from San Joaquin County(as necessary).
2. Soil boring locations will be marked on the ground with white spray paint or white
spray painted stakes. Drilling locations shall be no closer than 25 feet to overhead
utilities. After marking locations, Underground Service Alert (USA) Dig will be
contacted at least 48-hours prior to subsurface investigation. USA Dig will in turn
contact all relevant utility companies to provide utility clearance for marked
locations, however it is the responsibility of the field technician to confirm that
this was conducted properly.
3. A geophysical subsurface utility locating company will be subcontracted (if
necessary) in order to provide additional subsurface utility clearance for each
boring.
2.5 Field Implementation
All pertinent observations and actions should be recorded in DFRs (Attachment 1). Soil
boring logs (Attachment 2),will be used to document detailed drilling observations. The
procedure for classifying soil is included in Section 4 of this SOP.
3
