General Description of the Plant Operations
intas owns and operates a garment rental and laundry facility located in Stockton, Ca.
The Facility supplies and launders uniforms, mops, mats, shop towels and various other
items to commercial and industrial customers. The Facility maintains a vehicle fleet for
distribution of its products and services and provides limited on-site vehicle maintenance.
Wastewater Generation and Facility Sewer Systems
The Facility generates process wastewater primarily as a result of conducting the
laundering process in the ten installed washers. Other sources of discharge include the
boiler room, as w0l. as sanitary discharge from mstrooms and cafeteria.
The wastewater is pre-treated onsite and discharged into the city sanitary sewer system
under a wastewater discharge permit. The permit specifies limits on the volume of
wastewater discharged from the Facility and on the concentrations of specific industrial
pollutants.
An estimated wastewater generation by source is as follows:
Wastewater Flow Type
Sanitary Uses: 2,000 Gal/day Batch
Boiler Blow down: 200 Gallday Batch
Process Water: 120,000 Gal/day Continuous
There are two separate sewer systems inside the facility —process and sanitary. There is
also a stormwater collection system outside the plant building.
Process water originating from the washer discharge is collected by a system of floor
trenches and routed into a 2-stage floor pit with a combined capacity of 5,000 Gallons.
From the floor pit wastewater is pumped into a 32,000 Gallon above-ground equalisation
tank and is then chemically treated to ensure compliance with the discharge permit limits.
The treatment consists of Coagulant (D-1053), Benton ite Clay and Flocculant (D-923).
Solids are separated using a Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system and are subsequently
de-watered in a filter press prior to disposal at a landfill.
Final eMucnt is injected with a Silicone Defoamer and Sodium Percarbonate before
being discharged into a city-owned sanitary sewer located under Industrial Drive. A
sampling manhole, which also contains a flow meter and pH probe, is located on the
discharge line.
