MANN STATION WELL DESTRUCTION <br /> 1.0 GENERAL <br /> The work to be completed as part of this project encompasses that which is necessary to <br /> destroy the abandoned (no longer in use) municipal well located at the San Jose Water's Mann <br /> Station (Figure 1). The purpose of the work is to properly seal the well thereby preventing <br /> vertical communication of water between the aquifers penetrated by the well and from the <br /> ground surface. <br /> 1.1 SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The well will be abandoned according to applicable standards and regulations of Valley Water <br /> and the State of California Department of Water Resources. The work generally includes: <br /> • Preparing well for video inspection <br /> • Performing video inspection <br /> • Procurement of well destruction permit from Valley Water <br /> • Preparation of site for operations <br /> • Destruction of well pedestal <br /> • Removal of casing to a depth of five feet below ground surface <br /> • Perforation of well casing (if necessary) <br /> • Placement of sealing material in well <br /> • Filling of excavation <br /> • Site Cleanup <br /> • Submission of Well Completion Report <br /> Table 1 includes all the currently available construction information for the Mann Well. <br /> Contractor will be responsible for obtaining missing information during the required field <br /> investigation of the well prior to abandonment. <br /> Table 1.
