SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work of this investigation will include the following activities:
• Obtain a well installation permit from the San Joaquin County Department of
Environmental Heath(SJCDEH);
• Mark the proposed boring and well location and obtain an Underground Service Alert
(USA)number;
• Implement a Site-specific Health and Safety Plan;
• Advance soil borings CPT-IA and CPT-113 to depths of 80 feet bgs using a CPT/direct
push drill rig to profile soil lithology and collect soil samples at 5-foot intervals from 65 to
80 feet bgs;
• Straight drill soil boring B SW-1 to a depth of 80 feet bgs using a hollow stem auger(HSA)
drill rig and construct a biosparge well B SW-1 in the borehole;
• Submit soil samples to a laboratory for analysis;
• Develop newly installed biosparge well BSW-1;
• Survey biosparge well BSW-1 for location and elevation;
• Profile, transport, and recycle the investigation soil and groundwater derived waste and;
• Prepare a report documenting the investigation.
FIELD ACTIVITIES
Activities related to this subsurface investigation will be conducted under the direction of a
California Certified Engineering Geologist and a California Professional Geologist in accordance
with the field procedures presented in Appendix B.A Site-specific Health and Safety Plan to guide
field personnel during the conduct of field work is included in Appendix C.
PRE-FIELD WORK
FREY will obtain a well installation permit from the SJCDEH. FREY will mark the proposed
biosparge well location with white paint and notify USA a minimum of 48 hours prior to the
conduct of field work. In addition, FREY will notify the SJCDEH and all other interested parties
prior to the conduct of field work.
CPT BORING ADVANCEMENT
CPT borings CPT-IA and CPT-113 will be completed with a 30-ton CPT equipped with 2-inch
diameter drive rods at the locations shown on Figures 3 and 3A. The borings will be manually
excavated to approximately 4 feet bgs in order to avoid any subsurface obstructions and then
advanced to final depths of 80 feet bgs. CPT boring CPT-IA will be advanced to measure rod tip
resistance, rod sidewall friction, the ratio of tip resistance and sidewall friction and hydraulic soil
pore pressures to evaluate soil types and zones of higher groundwater saturation. CPT/direct push
boring CPT-1B will be advanced adjacent to CPT boring CPT-IA to collect soil samples at 5-foot
intervals from 65 feet bgs to the bottom of the boring.
FREY Environmental, Inc. 3 Project No. 1175-01
