CAR Appliculion - INR Apph nct: ;fit um��cn�cnt 3)c>cripii�ros <br />versal Service Recycling Appliance Management Descriptions <br />A CAR is responsible to appropriately manage MRSH from major appliances and vehicles III <br />they are contained prior to crushing for transport or transferring to a baler or shredder for recycling, <br />in a manner which will prevent hazardous material release to the environment. OSR follows the <br />definitions of MRSH found in the California Public Resource Code - PRC § 40) (67. <br />Universal Service Recycling (USR) will employ trained personnel to remove Materials that Require <br />Special Handling (MRSH), track those materials, safely store and ship them to authorized rccyclers <br />and/or hazardous waste disposal facilities. USR may contract licensed third party contractor(s)* to <br />remove refrigerant and/or other MRSH received at USR facilities. <br />General Knowledge — <br />Universal Seivice Recycling is a small quantity generator of hazardous waste and receives various types <br />ol'appliances including but not limited to; refrigerators, washers, dryers, air conditioners, water heaters, <br />stoves/ovens, and microwaves. These appliances can contain multiple materials requiring special handling <br />such as; <br />• Mercury devices <br />• Used oil, halogenated oil, and greases <br />Refrigerants <br />• PCB, DEI -IP and Non -PCB capacitors <br />• Other hazardous wastes including but not limited to; lamps, bulbs and batteries <br />Major appliances acid vehicles can arrive to USR from government agencies, private businesses, <br />and private customers as scrap, or to be sold to USR as scrap. Products with M1tSF1 shrill follow the <br />DTSC published guidelines including, CAR Flowchart to ensure proper documentation <br />requirements. All DTSC required documents, Form 1430 and Form 149, will be completed and/or <br />collected and then provided to the EHS Manager for continued regulatory use and recordkeeping <br />requirements. <br />Training — <br />USR Employees handling the removal of MRSH will have completed appropriate training prior to <br />handling/processing MRSH. All refrigerant MRSH removal contractors will meet EPA certification(s) in <br />accordance with DTSC requirements, prior to removing refrigerant and/or other MRSH From major <br />appliances at USR. <br />*Campos Bros. Recovery, Inc. (CAR # 053) 1) is currently the contracted third party pro <br />cessing <br />refrigerants and/or other MRSH for Universal Service Recycling. <br />All USR personnel assigned to process MRSH will receive site specific and equipment specific training <br />for the tasks they will perform.
