The pesticides/chemicals used at this site were applied to the vineyard for agricultural production. The
vineyard has historically been treated with Carbaryl, Dicamba, Methomyl, Simazine, Zinc Phosphide,
MCPA Dimethylamine Salt, 2, 4-db, z, 4-5 amine, Paraquat Dichloride, MCPA and Difethialone. (See
permit No. 39-26-3904333, 39-25-3904333, 39-24-3904333, 39-23-3904333 and Permit No. 39-22-
3904333). (See Appendix)
3.3 Description of All Current On-Site Potential and/or Known Above and Below
Ground Sources of Contamination Identified at the Project Site: Presently, there are no
underground storage tanks on the property and visual inspection did not produce any evidence of
buried containers, as well as no odors that would be associated with buried chemical tanks. There are no
above ground fuel tanks on the site. San Joaquin County Environmental Health Departments public
records indicated there were no fuel tanks on site. On-site water dissipates through either percolation or
evaporation.
3.4 Description of All Past Off-Site Potential and/or Known Above and Below Ground
Sources of Contamination Identified In the Area of the Project Site: Past off-site potential
for contamination is moderate. The subject parcel is located in an agricultural and commercial
neighborhood. The land use has historically been agricultural and residential and has not changed
significantly. There was a diesel spill which contaminated soils at Victor Meats. However, it was
properly cleaned under regulation by October 5, 2005. Victor Meats is approximately 750 feet northwest
of this site. There was also a diesel spill approximately 1,500 feet southeast of the project site across the
Mokelumne River near the corner of Turner Road and Cluff Avenue. The clean up for this spill was
completed under regulation on June 14, 1993.
3.5 Description of all Present Off-Site Potential and/or Known Above and Below Ground Sources
of Contamination Identified in the Area of the Project Site: Present off-site potential for
contamination is moderate. (See Appendix for case studies.)
4.0 EVALUATION OF PAST AND CURRENT SOURCES OF
CONTAMINATION IDENTIFIED AT OR NEAR THE SITE AND
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FURTHER ACTION:
4.1 Evaluation of each potential and/or known source of contamination identified for any_real
and/or potential threat to human health and the environment: The depth to ground water in this area
is approximately 60f feet. Due to this depth, any pesticides, insecticides, and fertilizers used on the
property in the past or present would have a minimal impact to the ground water. The site is served by a
private well.
5.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS SECTION:
5.1 Discussion of the Above Evaluation: There are no chemical containers or fuel storage tanks on this
site, however there have been contaminants spilled near the site which have been properly remediated,
thus the potential for contamination is moderate. There are multiple pesticides, insecticides, and
fertilizers used on the site. No mitigation measures are recommended.
2
