Walking - Working Surfaces <br /> Vertical / Fixed Ladder Safety <br /> The user shall not carry tools or equipment while ascending/descending a vertical/fixed ladder. <br /> Both hands and arms shall remain free for climbing. Hand tools shall be carried in a pouch <br /> holster or otherwise secured, to help avoid creating a hazard. <br /> The user shall never jump or slide down from a vertical/fixed ladder or climb more than one <br /> rung at a time. <br /> The user shall avoid using greasy or slippery hands or gloves and footwear while <br /> ascending/descending a vertical/fixed ladder. <br /> Vertical/fixed ladders will be kept free from oil, grease, or slippery materials on platforms, <br /> rungs and gripping surfaces. Footwear should have good tread (no flat-soled shoes) and be <br /> kept clean. <br /> Users who tire easily, who have physical limitations or physical impairments that could prevent <br /> the user from having the ability to safely climb a vertical/fixed ladder shall not be permitted to <br /> use the ladders. <br /> As of November 19th, 2018, cages will no longer be accepted as a form of fall protection, and <br /> all fixed ladders taller than (or that extend beyond) 24 feet high must use a personal fall arrest <br /> system or a ladder safety system. <br />�. Always maintain 3-points of contact when using any type of ladders and stairs. <br />
