Walking - Working Surfaces
Fall Protection
Fall protection is the use of controls designed to protect personnel from falling or in the event they
do fall, to stop them without causing severe injury.
Peterson Farms Inc. requires fall protection to be donned when working at elevated heights above
4' that are not protected by guardrail systems, ladders, or other standard fall restraints. Fall
Protection is also required when operating all aerial lifts. This includes scissor lifts and man lifts.
All trained associates are to inspect, document inspection, and don a 5-point harness and self-
retracting lanyard (SRL) that is appropriate for the calculated fall distance. Inspect all equipment for
any defects in the harness and SRL's (webbing, strapping, stitching, buckles, grommets, metal
parts, and labels). Also check the shock absorbing components, and mechanical function of the
SRL.
