Emergency Eye Wash and Shower Station <br /> Why 15 Minutes? <br /> Flushing for 15 minutes is important because you want to fully dilute the chemical and wash it <br /> out of your eyes. Any time less than 15 minutes is NOT enough time to accomplish this. <br /> When a corrosive chemical meets eyes or skin, tissue damage begins immediately. The affected <br /> area must be irrigated immediately with water for 15 minutes. <br /> The first 10 to 15 seconds after exposure to a hazardous chemical are critical.
