Emergency Eye Wash and Shower Station
Push/Pull the Lever to Activate the Unit - The dust covers will pop off on the eyewash unit and
the flushing fluid will begin to flow out from the faucet heads. Once activated, the unit will stay
on.
Begin to Flush - Water should not be directly aimed onto the eyeball but aimed at the base of
the nose.
Hold Your Eyes Open with Your Fingers - Hold eyelids open using the thumb and index finger
to help ensure that effective rinsing has occurred behind the eyelid. Always wash from the
outside edges of the eyes to the chemicals back into the eyes or into an unaffected eye.
Roll Your Eyes - Gently "roll" your eyes from left to right and up and down to be sure that the
fluid is flushing all the areas of your eye.
Flush for a Full 15 Minutes - Continue Flushing your eyes for a full 15 minutes.
Take Out Your Contacts (If wearing) - If you have contact lenses in your eyes, you can gently
take them out while you are flushing. Don't delay the flushing to take out your lenses but make
sure that you take them out because they could trap the chemical in your eyes.
Seek Help - After you have flushed, seek help from neared manager/supervisor for the next
step.
