Remedial Investigation QAPP
Stockton Army Aviation Support Facility,California
Geological Survey(USGS) Quadrangle Map.Any flight line restrictions or other special permits that are required
will also be adhered to. Fieldwork will be coordinated with the appropriate Facility contact and/or their designee
to ensure investigation activities do not impact Facility or airport operations.Anticipated work hours are 0700 to
1700 Monday to Friday.
14.1.5 Suitable Water Determination
Prior to mobilization, the potable water source that will be used for drilling and decontamination procedures will
be evaluated to determine if it is suitable. The term suitable water is defined here as water that does not contain
significant concentrations of any compound in the specific PFAS analyte list that is being analyzed at a project-
defined level. The contracted laboratory will provide PFAS-free water defined as less than (<) the method
detection limit(MDL)for the target compounds analyzed.
The on-Facility water source will be defined as suitable based on the following acceptable limits:
Suitable water for decontamination purposes: PFAS concentrations less than or equal to (<_) the USEPA RSLs,
followed by a final rinse with lab-grade PFAS-free water.
Suitable water for drilling purposes(i.e., water that is put down the borehole): PFAS concentrations less than or
equal to(<_)one half the USEPA RSLs.
Future re-evaluation of these acceptable limits may be needed with new guidance. The confirmation of suitable
water will be performed prior to the commencement of work. If the potable water source is determined to be
unacceptable, an alternate source of water confirmed to be suitable will be utilized.
The potable water at Stockton AASF was previously analyzed for PFAS and shown to be a suitable water source
for decontamination procedures. The confirmation of suitable water will be performed prior to the
commencement of RI fieldwork.
Decontaminated sampling equipment(not inclusive of drilling equipment[e.g.,drill rods and casing])will have a
final rinse with PFAS-free water(i.e.,American Society for Testing and Materials [ASTM]Type II deionized water).
While not anticipated, if a decontamination water source that meets these requirements cannot be identified,
the PDT may decide to treat the water prior to use (i.e., granular activated carbon [GAC]). If the source water is
treated, post treatment samples will be collected frequently to ensure the treated source water is acceptable for
use.
14.1.6 Site Preparation
Preparation activities for the RI field investigation operations include:
• Clearing of brush, overgrown grass, and any other vegetation in locations that would otherwise hinder
proposed field investigation activities (e.g., markouts, vehicle access, etc.) Field personnel will ensure
that grass and vegetation is either mowed or removed prior to the start of field activities to mitigate
potential health hazards and promote a conducive work area.
• Mobilization of field team personnel and equipment.
• Traffic control measures may be required to complete investigations in some portions of the Facility.
Traffic Control and Safety Procedures will be outlined in the SSHP.
PARSONS Worksheet#14&16: Project Tasks and Schedule
Page 63
