Appendices (attach as needed) <br /> A: SITE-SPECIFIC HEAT ILLNESS PREVENTION PLAN- REQUIRED FOR ALL WORK IN <br /> CALIFORNIA <br /> Project#&Site Location: Stockton Phase II ESA, 303 N El Dorado St, Stockton, CA 95202 Date: 11/07/2024 AND <br /> 11/14/2024 <br /> Kleinfelder On-Site Lead/Supervisor: Isaac Rubalcava Phone: 909-637-7340 <br /> This Heat Illness Prevention Plan (HIPP)applies to employees of Kleinfelder who work in outdoor areas of employment or on job <br /> tasks where the environmental risk factors for heat illness are present, and are at risk for developing heat illnesses if they do not <br /> protect themselves appropriately. This plan is to be used only for work conducted in Level D PPE; non-HazWOPER field work; <br /> Construction Materials Testing; or short-duration (less than 1 day), non-chemical exposure projects only. <br /> For individuals working without direct Kleinfelder supervision (i.e., alone, remote, as a 3rd party on site), the individual will be <br /> considered the On-Site Lead/Supervisor for the project as it relates to this Heat Illness Prevention Plan. <br /> I. Standard General Requirements <br /> For all tasks where the temperature exceeds 80OF while on this site/project: <br /> • All Kleinfelder employees subject to Kleinfelder's Medical Surveillance Program shall have received appropriate <br /> clearance. For those not subject to the Surveillance Program on site visits or short-duration tasks on-site, the <br /> Kleinfelder lead/on-site supervisor shall discuss the individual's risk for Heat Illnesses and note any individual <br /> sensitivities. <br /> • All employees and supervisors shall have completed Heat Illness Prevention Training <br /> • Daily tailgate meetings shall also include the review of the site-specific Heat Illness Prevention Plan, heat illness <br /> prevention methods, symptoms, and emergency response procedures, including how to access emergency personnel. <br /> • Site leads/supervisors, prior to the start of work, shall check the current temperature, humidity, and weather forecast for <br /> the nearest weather station to site via either smart-phone weather application or the internet. The lead/supervisor will <br /> also check current conditions every 2-3 hours. If internet or cellular service is not available while onsite, a portable <br /> thermometer in an unshaded area on-site shall be referenced. <br /> • Site leads/supervisors shall refer to the NOAA Heat Index(attached for reference in Section V111)and determine <br /> appropriate precautions required, and when necessary, adjust or stop work. <br /> • Employees are encouraged to take shaded rest breaks at least every 2 hours, unless more frequently is required based <br /> upon workload, site conditions, heat index, or the employee has a known susceptibility to heat illnesses or exhibits <br /> preliminary symptoms of the onset of heat illness. Employees will be given no less than 10 minutes to rest in the <br /> shade, in addition to time needed to access the shade. <br /> II. Acclimatization <br /> • Site leads/Supervisors shall closely monitor new employees (<30 days with Kleinfelder), unless the new employee <br /> indicates at the time of hire that they have been doing similar work for at least 10 of the past 30 days, and for more than <br /> 4 hours per day. <br /> • New employees, with less than 30 days with Kleinfelder, or those that have not been conducting similar functions in <br /> similar environmental conditions, or any employees who have not previously worked in environments where the <br /> possibility that heat illness may occur shall be given an opportunity for their bodies to gradually be exposed to heat <br /> while on-site. Site Leads/Supervisors shall identify any new hire workers below and track their progress closely and will <br /> provide additional breaks for water, shade, and rest throughout the 14-day acclimatization period. <br /> • Managers, Project Managers, and Site Lead/Supervisors shall monitor employees for signs/symptoms of heat stress <br /> (see Section VI)during a heat wave.
