KLE/NFELOER (H e a l t h&
Safety
Procedure HSP-5-07 Version 10
NOISE AND HEARING Number: Number:
PROTECTION Published 5/4/2018 Revised N/A
Date: Date:
5-07.1 Scope and Applicability
When engineering, administrative, and other controls are not capable of reducing
potential worker exposures to high noise levels, the proper hearing protection shall
be used. In any workplace where hearing protection is necessary to help protect
the health of the employee, the employer must establish and implement a written
hearing protection program with works ite-s pecifi c procedures. This program
applies to all workers who may be required to wear hearing protection.
In general, the main source of compliance requirements can be found in the
Federal OSHA standards found at 29 CFR 1910 (Occupational Safety and Health
Standards) and 1926 (Safety and Health Standards for Construction). However, in
some cases there are state or local regulations or client specifications that are
more stringent than the Federal OSHA standards. Kleinfelder will adhere to the
most stringent of the applicable requirements.
5-07.2 Goals and Objectives
This Noise and Hearing Protection Program serves as a guideline for medical
surveillance, hearing protection selection and use, limitations, maintenance,
evaluation of the program, special considerations, and voluntary use.
Kleinfelder will provide its employees with all necessary noise and hearing
protective equipment whenever such equipment is necessary.
Kleinfelder will provide, repair, or replace noise and hearing protective equipment
as necessary.
5-07.3 References
The following references were utilized in the development of this program.
• OSHA 29 CFR 1910.95
• OSHA 29 CFR 1926.101
5-07.4 Responsibilities
The Program Administrator for Kleinfelder's Noise and Hearing Protection Program
is the Vice President, Health and Safety, while implementation at each job site is
the responsibility of the Project Manager, HSM and the site safety officer (if one is
appointed).
Copyright 2019 Kleinfelder, Inc.
