Safety 5-07.4.1 Responsibility of VP of Health and Safety • Being knowledgeable concerning noise and hearing protection, and maintaining an awareness of current regulatory requirements and good practices. • Identifying work areas, processes or tasks that require workers to wear hearing protection. • Evaluating hazards. • Selecting hearing protection options. • Monitoring noise and hearing PPE use to ensure PPE is used in accordance with specifications. • Arranging for and/or conducting training. • Ensuring proper storage and maintenance of noise and hearing protection equipment. • Administering the medical surveillance program. • Maintaining records required by the program. • Evaluating the program. • Updating written program, as needed. 5-07.4.2 Responsibility of Project Manager, HSM and the Area Safety Representative, or Site Safety Officer (if applicable) • Ensuring that employees (including new hires) receive appropriate and current training and medical evaluation. • Ensuring the availability of appropriate noise and hearing protection and accessories. • Being aware of tasks requiring the use of noise and hearing protection. • Implementing this Section at each job site. • Enforcing the proper use of noise and hearing protection when necessary. • Ensuring that noise and hearing protection fit well and do not cause discomfort. • Continually monitoring work areas and operations to identify noise and hearing protection. • Coordinating with the VP of Health and Safety on how to address noise hazards or other concerns regarding this program. 5-07.4.3 Employees • Using the noise and hearing protection in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and the training received.
