Job Task Driving (Streets and Highways) <br /> Publish Date: August 28, 2017 Origination Date: June 12, 2007 <br /> All of the above is applicable to rental vehicles. In addition, confirm <br /> vehicle has a spare tire,jack and lug wrench, collect photos/video of <br /> Rental vehicle damage pre-trip vehicle inspection and post-trip vehicle inspection and save <br /> with project files, retain rental agreement in vehicle during operation, <br /> and save copies of the pre-trip and post-trip vehicle condition <br /> Pre-Trip preparation paperwork with the project files. <br /> (cont.) <br /> Check that vehicle has valid and current plates, registration, and <br /> Expired Insurance or Registration insurance documentation. Confirm VIN on registration and insurance <br /> documentation matches vehicle VIN. Do not take vehicle if any <br /> documentation is expired or doesn't match vehicle VIN. <br /> Seat belt must be fastened whenever operating vehicle. <br /> To decrease the likelihood of vehicle movement when engine is <br /> started: <br /> Injury/property damage from unintended vehicle movement at start- Manual Transmission: Verify transmission is in neutral, your foot is <br /> up on the brake pedal, and parking brake is applied before starting <br /> engine. <br /> Starting sequence Automatic Transmission: Verify transmission is in park, your foot is <br /> on the brake pedal, and parking brake is applied before starting <br /> engine. <br /> Monitor vehicle for odd sounds/vibrations and abnormal gauge <br /> Faulty systems performance readings during start-up and initial movement. If abnormalities are <br /> discovered, remove vehicle from service and report to staff <br /> responsible for vehicle maintenance/management. <br /> Operate vehicle consistent with local traffic laws. <br /> Avoid distractions such as food, navigation, or music and focus on <br /> the task of driving. <br /> Maintain speed within posted speed limits.Adjust speeds and <br /> account for stopping distances as appropriate for driving conditions <br /> or approaching challenging roadway alignments. <br /> Check blind spots prior to changing lanes and telegraph lane <br /> changes with directionals. <br />
