Ms. Vera Fischer
Page 3
Soil Vapor Samples
The Summa canisters were submitted under chain-of-custody protocol to Eurofins/Air Toxics
laboratory in Folsom, California and analyzed for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by
EPA Method TO-15, including the leak detection compound DFA; for TPHg by EPA Method
TO-3; and for oxygen by ASTM Method D-1946.
Analytical Results
Soil Samples
• TPHg was not detected in any of the soil samples.
• TPHd was detected in each of the samples. Concentrations ranged from 3.9 to 140
parts per million(ppm).
• Benzene was detected in three samples at estimated(J-flagged) concentrations ranging
from 0.0011 to 0.0019 ppm.
• Toluene was detected in two samples with estimated concentrations of 0.0014 and
0.0026 ppm.
• Ethylbenzene, xylenes, fuel oxygenates, lead scavengers and naphthalene were not
detected in any of the soil samples.
Results are summarized in Table 1. The laboratory report is included in Attachment C.
Soil Vapor Samples
• TPHg was detected at concentrations of 470 and 540 micrograms per cubic meter
(ug/m3)in VP-1 and VP-2 respectively.
• Benzene was only detected in VP-2 at 3.8 ug/m3.
• Toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, MTBE. ethylene dibromide, 1,2-dichloroethane and
naphthalene were not detected.
• In addition to the above, low levels of ethanol, acetone, 2-propanol and
tetrachloroethene were detected in one or both samples.
• The leak detection compound DFA was detected in both samples.
• Oxygen was present at 18 and 19 percent in VP-1 and VP-2.
Results are summarized in Table 2. The laboratory report is included in Attachment D.
Soil Vapor Assessment Report
