Ms. Vera Fischer Page 4 Conclusions The concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons in the shallow soil samples are well below the levels considered protective of human health due to direct contact and outdoor air exposure as listed in Table I of the LTCP. Even though some leakage occurred during sampling, the abundant oxygen in the soil gas* coupled with the low levels of TPH in the shallow soil** establish the presence of a "Bioattenuation Zone" as described in the LTCP. As such, the reported levels of benzene, ethylbenzene and naphthalene, although diluted to some degree, are four orders of magnitude lower than the soil gas criteria in Appendix 4, Scenario 4 of the LTCP. The investigation results demonstrate that Media-Specific Criteria 2 and 3 of the LTCP have been satisfied.
