HYDROFOCUS HEALTH AND SAFETY RULES <br /> Office Health and Safety <br /> 1. General Housekeeping <br /> A. Always keep your work station as clean as possible. <br /> B. File papers regularly to reduce the possibility of a fire hazard <br /> C. If you eat or drink at your work station,always clean up crumbs and/or <br /> spills. <br /> D. Trash from eating or drinking should be disposed of daily and preferably <br /> put in covered waste containers. <br /> 2. Tripping Hazards <br /> A. Never string extension or electrical cords across walkways.Rearrange <br /> furniture to avoid this situation <br /> B. Keep walkways clear of objects such as boxes,wastebaskets books,files, <br /> etc. <br /> C. Wipe up coffee or other liquid spills immediately. <br /> D. Pick up small objects such as pens,pencils,paper clips,etc. <br /> E. Report frayed,torn,or loose carpeting <br /> F. Never read or carry objects which obstruct your vision while walking <br /> 3. Furniture <br /> A. Never stand on furniture,use a stepstool. <br /> B. Never lean back on chairs such that the front legs lift off the floor. <br /> C. Examine furniture periodically for weakened or broken parts,and remove <br /> or remove from service as necessary <br /> D. Always close desk drawers immediately after use. <br /> E. Arrange furniture and equipment to prevent eye strain from reflected light <br /> and glare on work surfaces <br /> F. Never lean on room dividers or partitions. <br /> 4. File Cabinets/Shelves <br /> A. Never place cabin/shelves close to doorways,corners,or in walkways or <br /> corridors. <br /> B. When filling the cabinet/shelf always start at the bottom to avoid tipping. <br /> C. Store heaviest items at the bottom <br /> D. Avoid stacking or storing items on top of cabinets/shelves. <br /> E. Always close cabinet drawers and shelf door immediately after use <br /> F. Open only one cabinet at a time. <br /> G. When emptying cabinets/shelves,start from the top. <br /> 5. Office Machinery/Tools <br /> A. Keep electric fans,paper cutters,and other hazardous equipment in a <br /> safe area. <br /> B. Guards should always be left in place. <br /> C. Always disconnect machines being cleaned,adjusted,or repaired. <br /> D. Keep hands away from cutting edge of telefax machines. <br /> E. When using a copying machine and removing jammed paper,never reach <br /> into the machine until it has cooled. <br />
