GROUNDWATER INFORMATION <br /> The water table was measured at 7.3 ft below existing ground surface (bgs) from the exploratory <br /> boring completed as referenced above. It is known that groundwater near large bodies of water can <br /> be influenced by tidal action. Soil mottling/rust color was not observed near the capillary fringe, <br /> consequently, tidal action may not be overly significant in this locale. However, due to increased <br /> pumping for urban and agricultural uses, the water table may be expected to decline from its current <br /> elevation. <br /> The Well Completion Report and Water Analysis Report of the on-site well is found in Appendix F. <br /> Nitrate-nitrogen was determined to be non-detect(ND). It is usual to find very low or non-existent <br /> concentrations of NO3-N in wells near large bodies of fresh water. Regardless, the groundwater must <br /> be protected from potential NO3-N contamination. <br /> Iron and manganese were determined to be substantially over the Maximum Contaminant Level <br /> (MCL). Consequently, water from the new well will be treated to mitigate these two constituents. <br /> IV. NITRATE LOADING STUDY FINDINGS <br /> Only 2.9 acres of the 10 acre subject Parcel are to be developed. APN property boundaries are <br /> almost always used in nitrate loading calculations because of the definitive status of property line <br /> boundaries. However, the developmental limits of this project are clearly detailed, with the <br /> remaining 7.1 acres in wetlands or land that is continuously underwater. <br /> As referenced, the on-site soil exhibited substantial denitrification(90%) even though some of the <br /> soil characteristics are not conducive to nitrification and/or denitrification.• A denitrification factor of <br /> 50%will be used in the calculations below. <br /> The rainfall recharge factor used in the Hantzsche-Finnemore equation below has been derived from <br /> the Water Balance Analysis document,which illustrates the water balance analysis for a Net Rainfall <br /> Recharge (NRR or R as referenced below).
