Mr. Tom Horton Project 939-03 . 13
March 25, 1988
Page 2
TASK 3 - Chemical Analysis
Su ask -1 - Unsaturated Zone Analysis
To characterize the soil -pore liquids in the unsaturated zone, the
following soil samples will be collected and analyzed:
• Two deep (200-foot) samples
• Six shallow (5- to 35-foot) samples
The analytical parameters are described in our March 25, 1988 letter.
Subtask 3-2 - Ground-Water and Surface-Water Analysis
To characterize the quality of the ground water and surface water at
the site, the following samples will be collected and analyzed:
• Three deep ground-water samples
• Two surface-water samples
• Two duplicate ground-water samples
• Possibly up to five shallow ground-water samples, if a
shallow ground-water zone is encountered
The analytical parameters are described in our March 25, 1988 letter.
TASK 4 - Permeability Testing
To calculate the ground-water velocity at the site, in situ permeabil -
ity (slug) tests will be performed.
TASK 5 - Surveying
The elevations of the wells and borings will be surveyed to the
nearest 0.01 foot relative to mean sea level (U.S. Geological Survey
datum) . These elevations will be used to construct geologic cross
sections and ground-water contour maps.
TASK 6 - SWAT Report and Certification
A SWAT report will be prepared in accordance with the outline present-
ed in the SWAT guidance documents. The report will include informa-
tion previously submitted in the SWAT proposal , as well as results of
the ground-water, surface-water, and unsaturated zone sampling program
and any other information identified in the SWAT proposal . The report
prepared under this task will address the following SWAT report
requirements .
