Noll / NorWesCo Emergency Action Plan (EAP) <br />Section Three (3) <br />Emergency Action Plan Implementation in The Event of an Earthquake <br />Earthquake Safety and Evacuation Procedures; <br />California State has many earthquake fault lines that may become active at any time. You will not <br />normally know when that activity will strike. By following simple common sense rules and evacuation <br />procedures, earthquake injuries can be minimized. <br />During an earthquake: <br />If you are inside a building: <br />Seek shelter under a desk or table, cover your head ana stay as stiff as possible. If no desk <br />or table is in your vicinity, try to stand in a stable doorway or next to a steel beam. Stay away <br />from windows, heavy cabinets, bookcases or glass dividers. <br />When the shaking stops, managers andior supervisors are to check for damage and <br />available evacuation routes; then begin an orderly evacuation to the designated meeting area <br />area as specified in the Noll ! NorWesCo Emergency Action Plan (EAP) (route map). <br />• Evacuation of employees, customers, visitors, and contract personnel should proceed as <br />quickly as possible since there may be additional aftershocks, which can be more severe <br />than the initial quake. <br />Evacuation rulestroutes are posted throughout the building and are also available within <br />Noll I NorWesCo Emergency Action Plan (EAP). <br />Supervisors should ensure their employees, customers, visors, in their work zone exit <br />quickly. <br />First aid certified employees (First Responders) should check for injuries and help evacuate <br />injured personnel. Do not attempt to move seriously injured persons unless they are in <br />immediate danger of Further injury. <br />* If you smell natural gas in the building, immediately notify a Supervisor andlor the <br />Emergency Action Plan (EAP) Coordinator so that the gas can be turned off at the main gas <br />feed line valve. All Managers and Supervisors are to be trained on the location of all gas <br />valves and the correct shut off procedure(s). <br />• Do not approach or touch downed power lines or objects touched by downed power lines. <br />s Do not use the phone except for emergency use. <br />Do not use cell phones within the facility if you small a natural gas odor, Cell phones can <br />cause a natural gas explosion. <br />• Turn on a radio and listen for public safety instructions if possible. <br />• IF YOU MAY BE 1N IMMINENT DANGER, DO NOT DELAY EVACUATION TO LOOK FOR A <br />MANAGER OR SUPERVISOR FOR REPORTING PURPOSES AND DO NOT DELAY <br />EVACUATION TO OPEN WINDOWS, MAKE CALLS OR ANY OTHER ACTIVITIES <br />OTHERWISE SPECIFIED — EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE INITIAL SHAKING <br />SUBSIDES. Any information needing to be reported can be done once you have reached the <br />specified assembly location. <br />if you are „outside , the facility at the time of the earthquake; <br />• Stand away from buildings, telephone lines and electric lines. <br />• As soon as it is safe to do so, report the designated emergency meeting area and await <br />further instruction. Do not leave the premises unless authorized to do so. <br />36 <br />
