Noll / NorWesCo Emergency Action Plan (EAP) Section Three (3) Emergency Action Plan Implementation in The Event of an Earthquake Earthquake Safety and Evacuation Procedures; California State has many earthquake fault lines that may become active at any time. You will not normally know when that activity will strike. By following simple common sense rules and evacuation procedures, earthquake injuries can be minimized. During an earthquake: If you are inside a building: Seek shelter under a desk or table, cover your head ana stay as stiff as possible. If no desk or table is in your vicinity, try to stand in a stable doorway or next to a steel beam. Stay away from windows, heavy cabinets, bookcases or glass dividers. When the shaking stops, managers andior supervisors are to check for damage and available evacuation routes; then begin an orderly evacuation to the designated meeting area area as specified in the Noll ! NorWesCo Emergency Action Plan (EAP) (route map). • Evacuation of employees, customers, visitors, and contract personnel should proceed as quickly as possible since there may be additional aftershocks, which can be more severe than the initial quake. Evacuation rulestroutes are posted throughout the building and are also available within Noll I NorWesCo Emergency Action Plan (EAP). Supervisors should ensure their employees, customers, visors, in their work zone exit quickly. First aid certified employees (First Responders) should check for injuries and help evacuate injured personnel. Do not attempt to move seriously injured persons unless they are in immediate danger of Further injury. * If you smell natural gas in the building, immediately notify a Supervisor andlor the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) Coordinator so that the gas can be turned off at the main gas feed line valve. All Managers and Supervisors are to be trained on the location of all gas valves and the correct shut off procedure(s). • Do not approach or touch downed power lines or objects touched by downed power lines. s Do not use the phone except for emergency use. Do not use cell phones within the facility if you small a natural gas odor, Cell phones can cause a natural gas explosion. • Turn on a radio and listen for public safety instructions if possible. • IF YOU MAY BE 1N IMMINENT DANGER, DO NOT DELAY EVACUATION TO LOOK FOR A MANAGER OR SUPERVISOR FOR REPORTING PURPOSES AND DO NOT DELAY EVACUATION TO OPEN WINDOWS, MAKE CALLS OR ANY OTHER ACTIVITIES OTHERWISE SPECIFIED — EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE INITIAL SHAKING SUBSIDES. Any information needing to be reported can be done once you have reached the specified assembly location. if you are „outside , the facility at the time of the earthquake; • Stand away from buildings, telephone lines and electric lines. • As soon as it is safe to do so, report the designated emergency meeting area and await further instruction.
