1
Earthquakes
' In the event of an earthquake, the Designated Environmental Associates (DEA)for the site is
instructed to check for loose gas, fuel and water connections for leaks. If leaks are suspected, the
facility will be evacuated and connections will be turned off. Authorities will be notified of the
leak(s). Hazardous waste areas and areas where hazardous materials are stored will be
' inspected for spilled materials and threatened releases. Spilled materials will be dealt with as
soon as feasible.
Fighting Fires
' No associate is ever required to fight a fire with a fire extinguisher. If the fire is in its incipient
stage and is smaller than an office trash can, and if you have been trained and are comfortable,
and if you feel it is safe to do so, you may use a fire extinguisher to put out a small fire. Your only
responsibility, however, is to exit the building and contact the fire department.
t
1
t
