Failure <br /> to follow these Best Management Practices can hurt our Environment and in some cases are personally <br /> punishable by law. <br /> Q8. What can I do to prevent gasoline from entering a storm drain or the <br /> street? <br /> Use the absorbent materia/to block the storm drain and/or use the absorbent at the <br /> leading edge ofspi/l to block the flow. <br /> 6. HAZARDOUS MATERIAL HANDLING PROCEDURES: <br /> All used absorbent material (X-Sorb, Kitty Litter) is to be disposed of in the station's hazardous material <br /> barrel. Employees should know proper clean up and disposal techniques for hazardous materials. <br /> 1. Cover the entire area of the spill with absorbent material. <br /> 2. Allow a reasonable amount of time for absorption. Using the broom to move the absorbing <br /> material around the spill will reduce the time. <br /> 3. Used absorbent is to be cleaned up using a broom and dustpan once the spill is absorbed. <br /> 4. Used absorbent MUST be placed in the hazardous material barrel on site. <br /> 5. The barrel lock combination is the last four digits of your facility ID number. (Older stations <br /> might use 0711). <br /> 6. The Hazardous Material Barrel must be properly labeled. <br /> 7. Document the spill in the station's Spill Log. <br /> THIS BARREL IS FOR SOLID HAZARDOUS MATERIAL ONLY! <br /> No liquid waste/water should ever be placed into this particular drum <br /> LABELING REQUIREMENTS: The following information must be noted on your hazardous waste <br /> accumulation barrel. <br /> 1. Site name and address of waste generation <br /> 2. "Hazardous Waste"clearly marked on the label <br /> 3. Physical state of waste, i.e. Solid <br /> 4. Start date for the collection period (Date waste is 1st placed into drum) <br /> 5. Start date for the accumulation period (Date drum is 1/2 full "Accumulation Start Date) <br /> 6. What kind of waste you are storing, i.e. Absorbent containing petroleum <br /> 7. Hazardous properties of the waste, i.e. flammable <br /> 8.
