Policy&ProcedureTitle: Handlinv of Ha7ardnim Materials. <br /> Chemical Waste: <br /> Definition: <br /> 1. spent paint materials and related liquid products <br /> 2. automotive fluids <br /> 3. clean up solvents <br /> Handling procedure: <br /> 1. transfer liquids into appropriate container immediately after use <br /> 2. verify that storage container has self closing metal lid that is closed <br /> 3. clean up any spills immediately and store contaminated cleaning <br /> materials in appropriate container with self closing lid <br /> Labeling: <br /> 1. appropriate yellow placard should always be on waste container <br /> a. placard must contain required information <br /> 1. Company name and E.P.A. number <br /> 2. Contents in container and waste contractor information <br /> 2. all containers shall have manufacturers labels atached <br /> b. any un-labeled container must be emptied and disposed of <br /> immediately in designated storage container <br /> Appropriate safety procedures: <br /> 1. wear mask or appropriate respirator <br /> 2. wear rubber gloves and dispose of gloves when finished <br /> 3. wear safety goggles to reduce risk of injury from splashing <br /> 4. wear work uniform(shorts are not allowed) <br /> 5. verify that storage container is in a ventilated area when transferring <br /> contaminated liquid into it. <br /> 6. Immediately clean any chemical spills and store cleaning materials <br /> in appropriate container <br /> 7. storage container must have self closing lid that is kept closed when <br /> not in use <br /> 8. notify supervisor when when container is full and in need of transport <br /> and handling by Haz-Mat contractor <br /> 9. review locations of fire extinguishers and evacuation routes <br /> 10. storage containers must not be stored over 30 days when full <br /> 11.
