compounds, but have not reduced MTBE to acceptable levels.
iRecommended Technology for This Site
Due to the success of Activated Carbon filtration for the removal MTBE and Benzene from groundwater
on other sites in the Lodi area, this technology is proposed for the pump and treat remediation ofthis site.
The Proposed Filtration Plant Design
USfilter's Westgate division has proposed the use of three ASC-2000 Carbon Filter units connected in
series to handle the filtration requirements,of this pump and treat system. These filters are designed to
process 10 to 25 gpm of effluent, with the above stated analysis,to non detect level.A sample monitoring
point will be installed before and after the Activated Carbon filters.
A submersible extraction pump would supply the required hydraulic head to operate the extraction well,
carbon filter, and conveyance to the storage tank(see Fig. 1,below). A 21,000 gal. portable Baker tank
will be positioned in the parking lot to the north of the existing driveway and serve as clean water storage
(see plan of Filtration Plant attached).
A i"PVC discharge line will be placed in a 2"wide by 6"deep trench in the driveway asphalt surfacing.
Backf 11 ofthe trench will he with paving asphalt to the finish surfacing grade. An 1"discharge hose wilt
be required for the connection to the Baker tank. Discharge from the Baker tank to the tanker truck will
be by 4" suction hose to a 4" pump with a discharge hose.
•
EA.MOD.ASC-2000 FILTERS CONNECTED IN SERIES
STING UNDER PAVEMENT CONDUIT 4141'PVC EFFLUEI4 E NDER PAVEMENT V PVC DISCHARGE E
rg
XISTINO PA PUMP CONTOL PAN
_DRIVEWAY
ELECTRICAL TO PUMP FLOAT SWJ
-Tifir
mmwm
EXISTING UNDERGOUND EQUIPMENT VAULT
WITH EXISTING ELECTRICAL SERVICE
ZLMPELECTTR11CAL IN EXISTING CONDUIT
EQUIPMENT LIST_
pp1.3 EA.ASO-200000yyUgSFgIIµLLTER AggCTTIVpATMEDCARRBBON FILTERS
3,1 EA:PUMP ELEC`%T&%FEEL%&Pi=MMOL SWTGHIN0
4.1 EA.21.000 COAL PORTABLE RAKER TANK.
• I
Fig. 1
3
