Three UST's were removed from the property in October 1997; soil
samples for laboratory analysis that were collected from beneath the tanks tested positive for
petroleum hydrocarbon constituents. The site was placed in the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department's (EHD) Local Oversight Program on July 29, 1998.
To date, ten groundwater monitoring wells, one soil boring and one CPT boring have been
installed on site. The site is still, however, neither vertically nor laterally defined.
Concentrations in groundwater near the core of the plume were last reported at 200,000
micrograms per liter (Ng/1) methyl tertiary butyl ether and 2,700 pg/I benzene.
SJC/EHD has directed the responsible parties to continue the investigation of their
contaminated site; a work plan for further site delineation was approved in December 2008
but despite repeated directives and deadlines to implement the work plan, the work has not
been completed. In addition, the last groundwater monitoring and sampling event was
conducted on October 15, 2008, and no report of the results has been submitted.
SJC/EHD is referring this site to the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central
Valley Region (CVRWQCB) for oversight as the lead regulatory agency. A chronology of site
assessment activities is included for your reference.
