Ms. Loi Duncan, R.E.ff. .
April 1 2011
Page 2 of
Scope of Work
To complete the low-risk case closure evaluation, Ramage Environmental proposes the
following fora tasks:
. Sensitive receptor Survey
2. Soil Vapor Sampling and Analysis
. Human Health Risk Assessment
4. Request for Case ClosureReport
t
"Task 1. Sensitive lac for
To evaluate possible threats to any nearby sensitive receptors, T arnage environmental will
survey potential receptors within 2,000-feet of the site(i.e., site vicinity). The survey will
include d review of water well completion reports at the state of California Department of
Water Resources, contact with the county well permitting agency, contact with any local and
private water purveyors, and a tour of the site vicinity.
All water wells and other sensitive receptors identified through research and field
reconnaissance ill be plotted on a map of the site vicinity. All available well location,
construction and operating staters data will be summarized in a report table.
Task 2. Soil a car lin and Anal sis
Linder Rainage Environmental supervision and SJCEHD inspection, a C-57 licensed drilling
contractor(driller) will collect scall vapor samples at sig locations, according to the California
is
Department' of Toxic Substances Control Interim TinalGuidancefor the Evaluation and
Mitigation ofSubsurface Vapor Intrusion to Indoor fir, dated December ber 14, 2004 and
revised February 7,2005. The driller will collect the scall vapor samples without installing<
permanent scall vapor wells:
The proposed soil vapor sample locations are shown on the attached site plan. All six of the
sail vapor samples will be collected within the former fueling area. One sample will be
collected near MW-1, where the concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons in groundwater
are the highest`. Another soil vapor sample will be collected in the vicinity of the three
fonner 1,000-gallon US'Ts (#121, 22 and'23)arid soil boring SB-4, where the highest
concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons have been detected in shallow soil.<Soil vapor
samples will also be collected near the center of the former fueling area, adjacent to the two
fornier 1j2,000-gallon unleaded gasoline US"Ts (#13 and 14),adjacent to the three former
Career, aviation USTs, and at the west end of the fornier fueling area.
