KLEINFELDER
SCOPE OF SERVICES
The scope of services will include the following:
Task 1 Permitting,Geoprobe, and Sampling
1.1 PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD ACTIVITIES
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) requires completion
of a boring permit, and payment of fees prior to the advancement of borings to
groundwater. Because the boring is being advanced to evaluate the groundwater
conditions, we anticipate that submittal of the workplan to EHD will be necessary in
accordance with the EHD Unit IV requirements. A copy of this workplan will be
submitted with the EHD permit application for review along with the required fees once
it has been reviewed by RWQCB. The permit must be approved by EHD prior to drilling
activities and sampling.
The drilling subcontractor will contact Underground Service Alert and the boring
locations will be marked in white paint at least 48 hours prior to conducting fieldwork, to
notify local utilities of our proposed subsurface assessment.
1.2 GEOPROBE OPERATION
Two pushprobes will be advanced to the shallowest encountered groundwater at the
site. We anticipate groundwater to be present at approximately 15 to 20 feet below the
ground surface. One probe will be located at the former Suprema Specialties Pond No.
7 to assess the groundwater quality beneath the pond. The second probe wil be
located east of and outside of the former pond (approximately 50 feet away) as a
background sampling location. Please see the attached Plate 1 Site Map for the
proposed locations. The advancement of the pushprobes will be completed under the
direct supervision of a California State licensed Engineer or Geologist.
The push probes will be advanced with a truck mounted Geoprobe machine equipped
with stainless steel sampling equipment. We propose to advance the borings to a total
maximum depth of approximately 25-feet below ground surface (bgs). During
advancement of the probe, soil samples will be collected from at least 4-foot intervals for
lithologic classification. Lithologic classification will be based on the Unified Soil
Classification System (USCS). An environmental staff engineer or geologist will log the
soil probes. All equipment used in the drilling and installation procedures will be cleaned
and/or decontaminated with a steam cleaner or Liquinox cleaning solution.
A temporary PVC well screen and casing will be installed in each of the probe locations.
The temporary wells will be sampled in accordance with Kleinfelder's typical field
sampling protocols (Appendix A).
59830.H02/STO6R1055/JDZ:ly Page 3 of 5
©2006 Kleinfelder, Inc.
