KLEINFELDER
1.3 SOIL SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS
Soil samples will be collected from two probe locations to assess the soil quality at
varying depth intervals. One probe will be advanced within the pond and one probe will
be advanced east of and outside of the pond (approximately 50 feet away) as a
background sample (See Plate 1). Groundwater is anticipated to be approximately 15
to 20 feet below the ground surface. Therefore, the soil samples will be collected from
the depth intervals of:
• 0"-6"
• 1.5'-2',
• 3.5'-4',
• 7.5'-8',
• 11.5'-12', and
• 15.5'-16'.
A total of twelve soil samples will be analyzed (6 from each probe location). The soil
samples will be analyzed using the waste extraction test method utilizing distilled water:
• Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)by SM 2540C, DI WET,
• Fixed Dissolved Solids (FDS)by SM 2540C, DI WET,
• Volatile Dissolved Solids by SM 2540C, E, DI WET,
• Nitrate as Nitrogen by EPA Method 300.0, DI WET Method,
• Sodium by EPA Method 200.7, DI WET Method,
• Chloride by EPA Method 300.0, DI WET Method,
• Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN)by EPA Method 351.4, Dl WET Method,
• Electrical Conductance (EC)by EPA Method 120.1, DI WET Method, and
• pH by SM 53306, D, DI WET Method.
The soil samples will be secured under chain of custody control protocols and analyzed
by a laboratory certified to perform the analyses. The soil samples will be analyzed on
an expedited turn around schedule requiring up to 5 working days.
1.4 GROUNDWATER SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS
A groundwater sample will be collected from each of the probe locations. The
groundwater samples collected from beneath the pond and out side of the pond will be
analyzed using the noted laboratory methods or equivalent methods for the following, in
accordance with our understanding of the former list of analytes established for the
Suprema Specialties operational Monitoring and Reporting Program. If the RWQCB
has a different list of analytes formerly required to be tested at the Suprema
59830.H02/ST06R1055/JDZ:ly Page 4 of 5
©2006 Kleinfelder, Inc. October 16,2006
