Soil samples shall be taken using a <br /> modified California split-spoon drive <br /> sampler equipped with two-inch diameter <br /> brass or stainless steel sample tubes four <br /> inches or six inches in length. <br /> 3 . The contractor will drive the sampler ahead <br /> of the lead auger at each sample interval <br /> using catline and hammer or hydraulic <br /> hammer, and remove and open the sampler. <br /> The Pilko site representative will seal, <br /> label, preserve, and transport samples <br /> using USEPA-approved chain of custody <br /> procedures. <br /> 4 . All augers, bits, samplers, tubes and other <br /> tools that enters the borehole shall be <br /> thoroughly steam-cleaned prior to the start <br /> of each boring. In addition, the <br /> split-spoon sampler shall be washed in a <br /> solution of TSP (trisodium phosphate) and <br /> clean potable water and rinsed in a clean <br /> potable water before each interval is <br /> sampled. <br /> -8- <br />
