After groundwater is encountered in each <br /> boring, soil sampling will cease and the <br /> Contractor shall ream the boring to a <br /> minimum diameter of ten inches and to a <br /> depth of approximately ten feet below the <br /> water table. The Contractor shall install <br /> a groundwater monitoring well consisting of <br /> four-inch diameter Schedule 40 PVC with ten <br /> feet of commercially slotted screen and <br /> such quantity of threaded, flush-joint <br /> blank riser casing required to extend the <br /> well to ground surface. The well shall be <br /> finished as a surface-level completion <br /> using a traffic-rated Christy box or <br /> equivalent. The top of the riser shall be <br /> equipped with a lockable, water-tight <br /> "Packer" cap. A typical monitoring well <br /> installation is described in Attachment 2 . <br /> 6. The bottom of the well screen shall be <br /> sealed using a threaded cap (no cement will <br /> be allowed) . The annular space surrounding <br /> the screen shall be filled with clean <br /> graded sand to a height approximately three <br /> feet above the top of the screen.
