3.0 SITE DESCRIPTION
The site, which is currently owned by Santa Fe Pacific Properties, Inc. consist of two
parcels of 13.23 and 3.04 acres each, that are bordered to the north by Atchison Topeka &
Santa Fe Railroad Company right-a-way, to the east by a vacant field, to the south by
Anderson Street, and to the west by a vacant field. The two parcels are separated by an
additional spur track. See Plate 3.
The parcels are vacant with no obvious indication that any buildings or other facilities
have occupied the site in the past. See Section 4.2 Aerial Photographic Record for more details.
3.1 Topography
The topography of the site is generally flat;the elevation is approximately 40 feet above
Mean Sea Level (MSL). Because of seasonal changes and tidal influence, the elevation is based
on the findings of a local drilling company that just completed borings to the south of the site.
3.2 Geology
No published information regarding the specific geology of the site was available.
Bulletin 190, Geology of Northern California, California Division of Mines and Geology, 1966,
shows that the site is located in the San Joaquin Valley and underlain by low alluvial plains,
fans of marine deposits. There are also areas of Cenozoic non-marine (continental)
sedimentary rocks in this area.
3.3 Hydrology
Local topographic maps of the area indicate that surface water in the area flows in a
westerly direction towards the San Joaquin River. Prior to the construction of the I-5
interchange to the north, the ground-water flow was in a more northerly direction towards the
Stockton Deep Water Ship Channel.
3
