Dopaco continues to manufacture and supply paperboard packaging to the fast-food industry as it has
since it's inception. The product line has been expanded in Stockton to include cold drink cups and
lids.
Three roto-gravure printing presses, one thermoformer (cup/lid shaper) and various forming and
gluing equipment are utilized at this facility. There is one 8color printing press, one 6-color printing
press, and one 5-color printing press. Paperboard goes through these presses and ink is applied
according to whatever fast food design is needed. After the carton cup blanks are printed and cut,
they are formed and glued in the"Finishing Department", and ready for customer distribution.
Printing presses are then drained and cleaned. Much of the ink is saved for reuse. Large press parts
are put into one of the two cleaning baths in the off"Off Press Make Ready Room"(OPMR Room).
The waste ink is washed off parts and the resultant inlwaterlalwhol rinsate is collected and stored.
This is hazardous waste due to the heavy metal content of the ink(i.e.,zinc,lead,chromium,barium,
cadmium,eta).
V.
