t
James J. Hoblitzell
November 18, 1999
Page 2
understanding that the department has required the preplanning of soil remediation for a number of
years and in the past two years has issued over 120 underground storage tank removal permits with
these conditions. According to the department, a sufficient description would identify the disposal
location of any contaminated soil in the event that contamination exists. If you have not contracted
with the property owner for this aspect of the tank removal project, it is possible for the property owner
to identify and provide this information to the department. The department requests information on
the procedures which will be implemented in the event that when the tank is removed from the site
contamination is discovered.
Very truly yours,
DEEANNE WATKINS
Deputy County Counsel
cc: Supervisor Steve Gutierrez
Senator Patrick Johnston
./Donna Heran
