Pipes and piping systems are not included. <br /> 3.27 EMPLOYEE INFORMATION AND TRAINING <br /> Employees who may be exposed to hazardous chemicals in the course of their routine <br /> work assignments or in a foreseeable emergency, will be provided with information and training <br /> regarding these potential hazards. <br /> Employees will be informed of: <br /> • The requirements of the OSHA hazard communication standard. <br /> • Operation within their specific work area where hazardous chemical are present. <br /> • The location and availability of hazard communication materials, including the <br /> written hazard communication program, the site chemical list, and the MSDSs. <br /> Employee training will include at the least the following: <br /> • Methods of observations that may be used to detect the presence or release of a <br /> hazardous chemical. <br /> • The physical and health hazards associated with chemicals or classes of chemicals in <br /> their work area. <br /> • Actions necessary for employees to protect themselves from these hazards, including <br /> the use of personal protective equipment, specified work practices and procedures, <br /> and emergency procedures. <br /> • The details of the hazard communication program, including an explanation of the in- <br /> plant labeling system, MSDSs, and how the employee can obtain and use the hazard <br /> information. <br /> The initial training for employees covers: <br /> • The basics of the Hazard Communication Program. <br /> • The vessel identification system that will be used to identify container, vessel, tank, <br /> and drum contents and how to locate the Material Safety Data Sheets. <br /> 36 <br />
