case shall materials be placed closer than 2 feet from <br /> the edge of excavations 5 feet or more in depth. For <br /> lesser depths, at least a clearance shall be maintained. <br /> 12 . Stack materials in such a way that they will not fall <br /> over or block passageways . Do not pile or place objects <br /> or materials near machines . <br /> 13 . Employees shall be instructed to ensure that all guards <br /> and other protective devices are in the proper place and <br /> adjusted, and shall report deficiencies promptly to the <br /> foreman or superintendent. <br /> 14 . Workers shall not handle or tamper with any electrical <br /> equipment, machinery, or air/water lines in a manner not <br /> within their scope of duties, unless they have received <br /> instructions from their foreman. <br /> 15 . All accidents and injuries shall be reported immediately <br /> to the foreman and Safety Engineer so that arrangements <br /> can be made for medical or fist aid treatment. <br /> 16 . No firearms or weapons are permitted on the job-site. <br /> 17. When lifting heavy objects, use the leg muscles instead <br /> of the back muscles. <br /> 18 . Inappropriate footwear or badly worn shoes shall not be <br /> worn. Work shoes are required on all job-sites . <br /> 19 . Materials, tools, or other objects shall not be tossed <br /> from structures until proper precautions have been taken <br /> to protect others from falling objects. <br /> 20 . Employees shall cleanse thoroughly after handling <br /> hazardous substances, and follow special instructions . <br /> from an authorized source. <br /> 21. Work shall be so arranged that employees are able to face <br /> a ladder and use both hands while climbing. <br /> 22 . Gasoline shall ,ot be used for cleaning purposes . <br /> 23 . No burning, wzldinc, -3r other source of ignition shall be <br /> applied to any enc-.os ,d tank or vessel, even if there are <br /> some openings, until `_t has first been determined that no <br /> possibility of explosion exists, and authority for the <br /> work is obtained from the foreman or superintendent. <br /> 24 . Any damage to scaffolds, falsework, or other supporting <br /> structures shall be immediately reported to the foreman <br /> and destroyed or repaired for use. <br /> 25 .
