CODE OF SAFE PRACTICES <br /> GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR SAFE USE OF TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT <br /> 1 . All tools and equipment shall be maintained in good <br /> condition. <br /> 2 . Use the correct tool required by the job and never, use <br /> tools for purposes other than those for which they were <br /> intended. <br /> 3 . Don't use defective tools or equipment. Remove them from <br /> service and tag as "DEFECTIVE" . <br /> 4 . Wrenches shall not be altered by adding handle-extensions <br /> or "cheaters" . <br /> 5 . Tools, equipment, and materials must never be thrown up <br /> or down from one level to another. They must be <br /> transferred by the use of a hand-line or other safe <br /> method and not by means of the power cord. <br /> 6 . Do not set tools and equipment down where they are likely <br /> to fall or cause a tripping hazard. <br /> 7 . Only authorized personnel are permitted to repair, <br /> operate, or adjust power equipment. <br /> o . NevCr carry edged or pointed tool in your pocket or belt <br /> unless it has been fully protected. <br /> 9 . Tools shall not be used on moving objects or machinery. <br /> 10. Screwdrivers shall not be used as a punch or chisel. <br /> 11. wheelbarrows shall not be pushed with handles in an <br /> upright position. <br /> 12 . Use proper eye protection when using tools that can <br /> create flying chips or particles. <br /> 13 . Use other personal protection equipment such as gloves <br /> and ear plugs if the tool or equipme..t being used <br /> requires it. <br /> 14. Inspect all tools for worn or loose F .rt3 before <br /> connecting it to the power supply acid make sure all <br /> guards are in place and secure. <br /> 15 . Shut off and bleed the air hose prior to disconnecting <br /> air tools . <br /> 16 . Store all tools and equipment in a safe place when not in <br /> use and protect them from weather, dirt, and water. <br />
