17 . Before starting power equipment, be sure that no one will <br /> be endangered by moving parts . <br /> 18 . Repair or report all frayed or broken strands and other <br /> defects on wire, rope, slings, and electrical cords. <br /> 19 . Always use an extension holder to hold a small tool or <br /> stake for someone else to strike it. <br /> 20 . When using a tool that may slip under pressure, caution <br /> nearby workers to stand clear. <br /> 21 . No one is permitted to tamper with or defeat the purpose <br /> of safety devices. <br /> 22 . All electric tools must be grounded or double insulated. <br /> 23 . Electric power tools must never be used in areas where an <br /> explosive gas may be present unless they are explosion - <br /> proof by rating. <br /> 24 . When using electrically operated power equipment, be sure <br /> it's properly grounded to an effective ground rod, the <br /> one most practical for the specific location. <br /> 25 . Never use power equipment for service beyond its rated <br /> capacity. This also applies to hooks, chains, cables, <br /> ropes, etc. <br /> 26 . Tampering with or trying to repair electrical equipment- <br /> - is prohibited for anyone except qualified electricians. <br /> 27 . When using electrical extension cords, check the <br /> insulation, plugs, and receptacles for defects and do not <br /> wrap cords around your body. <br /> 28 . Do not look at a welding arc when welding is being <br /> conducted near you. <br /> 29 . Never use matches to ignite cutting torches . Use a spark <br /> lighter or pilot light provided. <br /> 30 . Clothing which is oily or with open pockets or cuffs must <br /> zot be worn during welding. <br /> 3� . hake sure welding area is well ventilated and never use <br /> oxygen for ventilation. <br /> 32 . Before welding, cutting, or brazing operations, determine <br /> the location of the nearest fire extinguisher. <br /> 33 . Sparks, hot metal and slag must not be allowed to fall on <br /> combustible materials . <br />
