I in
KLEINFELDER
The soil samples were transported under chain-of-custody control to Kleinfelder's office and
then transported by courier in a chilled container to Alpha Analytical Laboratory, Inc. (Alpha) of
Sparks, Nevada. The chain-of-custody form was signed by each individual who handled the
samples, including the sampler and the receiving employee at Alpha Analytical. Alpha is
certified by the State of California to perform the analyses requested. The samples were
analyzed on an accelerated turnaround schedule for completion.
ANALYTICAL RESULTS
A total of three soil samples, one from within the excavation bottom and two stockpile soil
samples were submitted for analysis for the following fuel constituents:
• Total Purgeable Petroleum Hydrocarbons (Gasoline Range) [TPH-G] by EPA Method
8015B/DHS LUFT
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene,xylenes [BTEX]by EPA Method 8260B
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons as referenced to Diesel [TPH-D] by EPA
Method 8015B/DHS LUFT
• Total Lead by EPA Methods
• Five Oxygenates (MTBE,TBA,DIPE, ETBE, and TAME)by EPA Method 8260B
The one discrete sample taken from beneath the UST was also anlayzed for:
• Soluble Lead using Distilled Water Extraction by California Title XXII Methods
A summary of the results is illustrated in the attached Table 1. Total lead was detected at 70
mg/kg in the sample collected beneath the UST, all other requested analyses/analytes were not
detected at or above laboratory reporting limits for this soil sample. Soluble Lead was not
detected above reporting limits (<0.01 mg/1) from the sample collected from beneath the tank.
Relatively low to trace concentrations of TPH-G, TPH-D and BTEX constituents were detected
in the two discrete soil samples collected from the excavated and stockpiled soil. No oxygenates
were detected in the three soil samples submitted for analyses. Copies of the chain-of-custody
form and analytical results are included in Attachment B.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The following conclusions and recommendations are based upon analytical results, observations
and Kleinfelder's findings. The analytical results were compared to the California Code of
Regulations 22CCR§66261.24 and/or the Residential U.S. EPA Region IX Preliminary
Remediation Goals (PRGs), dated November 1, 2000.
