HE
I
PHASE 1 ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT
4101 S. Airport Way, Stockton, CA
August 2009, Page 10 of 15
The 1970 photo shows the addition of two lanes to South Airport Road. West of the
subject property, the building currently housing Sierra Chemical Co.had been constructed.
Equipment and materials were stored south of this building, along with the addition of one
or more outbuildings. Much of the land south of the Sierra Chemical Co. building appears
to have been disturbed and/or used for storage. The photograph does not show specific
evidence of waste burial, tanks, dumping, landfilling,or other discrete potential sources of
contamination on surrounding properties.
The 1982 aerial photo is less detailed than the other photos but shows the outlines of many
structures not previously observed in the area. The most significant off-site changes
occurred to property directly north of the subject property. Buildings and above-ground
storage vessels were installed just north of Industrial Drive. This property is currently
occupied by Com Products Co. A building located just west of the present Sierra Chemical
Co.building is depicted on the photo. This property is currently occupied by a
manufacturer of Campbell's Soup products. Evidence of above ground storage tanks were
identified on western half of this facility. There are no noticeable changes in development
of the area east of Airport Way. The photograph does not show specific evidence of waste
burial, dumping, landfilling,or other discrete potential sources of contamination. With the
exception of Com Products Co. and the Campbell's Soup facility, tanks were not observed.
In the 1993 photo one large warehouse and at least two smaller structures were added to
the landscape just north of the Com Products Co. facility. In addition, Com Products Co.
approximately doubled in size by adding structures, storage and a rail spur in the northern
half of their property. Corn Products Co. added large above ground storage tanks during
this period. A large warehouse was also added southwest of the subject property, just south
of the present day Campbell's Soup facility. Between 1982 and 1993,the residences and
outbuildings located on the eastern side of Airport Way were removed. The photograph
does not show specific evidence of waste burial, dumping, landfilling,or other discrete
potential sources of contamination. With the exception of Com Products Co.,tanks were
not observed.
In the 1998 photo, extensive growth was observed in the area as several buildings were
added to the landscape in all directions from the subject property. East of the subject
property, two large structures had been added to a previously undeveloped area, the closest
being a facility occupied by Dana Corporation. To the north, several large warehouse-type
buildings were added near existing structures, and at least one addition was made to an
existing facility. To the west,a development located just west of the present Sierra
Chemical Co.building is depicted on the photo. The development consists of a several
structures, parking, and exterior storage and is currently occupied by Advanced Industrial
Coatings. A portion of a large warehouse currently occupied by The Wine Group is visible
as it was added just west of the Campbell's facility. A truck trailer parking area appears to
have been built adjacent to and south of the Campbell's facility. To the south,a large
facility was built just south of the property currently occupied by J.M.Eagle Co. The
