Specification No . : RGS0024-87 <br /> Part II - SPECIFIC CONDITIONS <br /> Section 14 - Electrical Work <br /> predetermined location or removed from the premises as <br /> directed by P .G . & E . <br /> 14 . 9 . 3 Existing conduit , fittings , wire , etc . , removed from the <br /> existing facility shall not be re - used unless <br /> specifically approved by the Engineer . <br /> 14. 9 . 4 Wherever existing wiring or equipment is abandoned as a <br /> result of this contract , it shall be removed insofar as <br /> possible . This includes but is not limited to : <br /> 1 . Remove all wire and cable . <br /> 2 . Remove all devices and equipment . <br /> 3 . Cut off and cap all abandoned conduit . Stubs shall <br /> not be extended above floor . <br /> 4 . Provide Closure plates for all abandoned flush <br /> outlets . <br /> 5 . Where removal of an existing outlet will result in <br /> loss of circuit continuity , the isolated portions of <br /> the circuit shall be reconnected to provide service <br /> to all outlets . If site conditions make <br /> reconnection impossible , connection shall be made <br /> from an adjacent available outlet as noted and /or as <br /> directed . <br /> 14 . 10 Materials and Installation - Branch Circuit Breakers , <br /> Raceway , and Outlets : <br /> 14. 10 . 1 Conduits shall be rigid steel , ( not intermediate steel <br /> conduit ) , hot dipped galvanized or shereardized of <br /> approved type and manufacture . Rigid conduit shall be <br /> used in all cases . <br /> 14. 10 . 2 All metallic conduit when run in earth or in sand or <br /> gravel full ( not concrete encased ) , shall be protected <br /> by 3M " Scotchrap " No . 50 applied to clean , degreased <br /> pipe in a Helical wrap , half-lap . Individual joint wrap <br /> shall overlap conduit wrap by three (3 ) inch minimum. <br /> 14 . 10 . 3 Couplings , connectors , and fittings shall be approved , <br /> type specifically designed and manufacturer for rhe <br /> purpose .
