b. Tanks shall be capable of storing liquids with specific
gravity up to 1.1.
c. Maximum Temperature - Tanks shall be capable of storing
gasoline, 100% methanol, 100% ethanol, gasohol (90% gasoline
and 10% ethanol mixture) , Oxinol-50 (90.5% gasoline, 4.75%
methanol, 4.75% GIBA) , av gas, jet fuel, motor oil, kerosene,
diesel fuel or potable water at ambient underground
temperatures, or fuel oil at temperatures not to exceed 150
degrees F at the tank interior surface. Dupont EPA waiver
(gasoline with 5% methanol and a minimum of 2.5% cosolvent.
The blend may contain a maximum concentration of up to 3.7
weight percent oxygen in the final fuel) .
d. Tanks shall be chemically inert to petroleum products.
3. Monitoring Capabilities
a. Tank shall have a space between the primary and secondary
shell walls to allow for the free flow and containment of all
leaked product from the primary tank.
b. The following continuous monitoring conditions shall be
compatible with the cavity between the inner and outer tanks:
1) Vented to atmosphere.
2) Sealed tank cavity.
3) Vacuum - 3" mercury maximum (1.5 psi maximum) .
4) Positive air pressure (3 psi maximum) .
5) hydrostatic pressure - 7 foot maximum groundwater head
pressure over tank top.
c. Tanks shall have an integrally-mounted reservoir installed on
the tank for optional hydrostatic monitoring. The reservoir
shall be constructed of fiberglass reinforced plastic
materials and warranted for 30 years against failure due to
I, internal/external corrosion and, when properly installed,
;r against structural failure (same as tank warranty) .
d. Tank shall be designed with access to the tank bottom between
the primary and secondary walls (annular space) . Tank shall
have one 4" NPP monitoring fitting in the reservoir.
e. The double wall tank monitor shall be capable of detecting a
breach in the inner and/or outer tank under the following
installed conditions:
u
1) When the inner tank is empty.
15.11-5
Food Plant Engineering, Inc.
