Spec No. CGT-TRACY-UST-01-2003 <br /> General Requirements <br /> 01010-8 <br /> applicable safety orders of the Division of Occupational Safety and Health, or as required by other <br /> Federal, State, or local laws, rules, or regulations. The cost of all work including the installation of <br /> equipment and facilities required to provide and maintain safe working conditions shall be included <br /> in its bid proposal. <br /> 1. Contractor shall maintain clean and orderly work and storage areas at all times during the <br /> progress of its work in accordance with the General Conditions which shall be rigidly enforced. <br /> 2. Upon completion of the Work, Contractor shall remove all of its tools and construction <br /> equipment from the Work site and shall leave the area in a clean and orderly condition. <br /> B. Protection: Contractor shall also provide satisfactory protection and safeguards for: <br /> 1. The property of others, including equipment and material supplied by PG&E. During <br /> performance of the Work, care and protection of existing work, PG&E's equipment, and <br /> adjacent areas shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. Dust and noise shall be kept at a <br /> minimum. Contractor shall provide protection, including sealed dust barriers between (a) PG&E <br /> employees and equipment, and (b) Contractor's equipment and Contractor's active work. <br /> 2. Fire Protection: During the progress of any work requiring the use of welding and cutting <br /> equipment of heat-,flame-, or spark-producing devices, there shall be at the work site adequate <br /> shields, guards, or covering placed so as to protect adjacent persons and property, and an <br /> adequate number and type of fire extinguishers placed in the immediate area and accessible <br /> for use. <br /> 3. Contractor shall confine the placement and number of apparatus,the storage of materials, and <br /> workmen's operations to limits established by law, ordinances, permits, or directions of PG&E, <br /> and shall not unreasonably encumber PG&E's premises with materials. <br /> 4. Contractor shall be responsible for the protection and preservation of all materials and <br /> equipment supplied of every description (including property which may be furnished or owned <br /> by PG&E or by others)while such property is located at the work site. Contractor shall promptly <br /> comply with all reasonable requests of PG&E to enclose or specially protect such property. If, <br /> as determined by PG&E, such property is not adequately protected by Contractor, such <br /> property may be protected by PG&E, and the cost thereof be charged to Contractor or <br /> deducted from payments then due or later becoming due. <br /> 5. Hazardous or Flammable Chemicals: Hazardous,flammable chemical liquids or gases brought <br /> onto the work site shall be used and stored in acceptable containers conforming to all <br /> applicable laws and regulations, including local fire codes. Such materials shall be used in a <br /> manner that shall prevent their accidental release. Such materials shall not be discarded on <br /> the work site. All empty containers shall be removed from PG&E's premises immediately or <br /> disposed of in the proper lawful manner. <br /> 6. Tools, Cords, Electrical Equipment: All tools, cords, and electrical equipment used or supplied <br /> by Contractor shall conform with Underwriter's Laboratory Standards and OSHA and be in <br /> proper working order to preclude hazard to person and premises. <br /> 7. Interruption of Utility Services: Contractor shall give adequate advance notice, not less than <br /> 72 hours minimum, to PG&E when interruptions of utility services to any existing facilities are <br /> anticipated. No interruption of utility services by the Contractor is permitted, unless approved <br /> by PG&E. <br />
