Work Plan
PSI proposes the upgrade of the piping sump penetrations and installation of reducer
test boots. PSI proposes the installation of Blueline Technologies UL Listed PES Series
Sump Penetration Boots and Blueline Technologies UL Listed PER Series Test
Reducer Boots. PSI field personnel are certified in the installation of Blueline
Technologies products.
For detailed description of the installation requirements for the PES and PER Series
Boots, please see the attached Blueline Technologies 2004 Product Catalog/Installation
Guide.
This work plan provides for the installation of standard repair (non -'split') UL -approved
penetration boots and test reducer boots. To accomplish this, the prospective pipe or
conduit will need to be cut or disconnected in order to permit the installation of the
penetration or test fitting.
Penetration Boot Installation
In accordance with manufacturer's guidelines, installation of sump penetration boots at
conduit and/or piping penetration points is accomplished by disconnecting the
perspective conduit/pipe and sliding the penetration boot over the conduit/pipe. The
boot is sealed to the sump wall using Parasealant 626, a UL listed sealant compound,
as required by the manufacturer. The boot is then permanently attached to the sump
wall using zinc -plated screws. Following attachment to the sump, the boot reservoir is
injected with a UL listed sealant compound, as required by the manufacturer. Following
the final sealing, the boot is clamped to the conduit/pipe
Product Piping
In order to permit boot installation, the product line will be cut, inside of the piping sump,
and any residual product drained, and placed into the perspective UST. Following
product removal, UL listed test boots will be installed. New Smith B x M FRP adapter
fittings will be installed in each product line.
Per SJCEHD requirements, each product line will then be pressure tested at one
hundred fifty percent of the standard operating pressure, and witnessed by SJCEHD.
Test pressures for gravity systems will be determined by SJCEHD.
Following the completion testing activities, PSI will remove test equipment, and
reconnect each of the product lines. Each of the existing product piping FRP flange sets
will be removed, and replaced with three-piece unions. Unions will permit (and simplify)
any future work or testing performed on the product piping. Suction systems will be re -
primed prior to being placed back in operation.
September 20, 2004
IMF Yellow Roadway Corporation
rV/ SJCEHD Permit Application Submitral
