The SSO has the authority to suspend project activities any time he/she determines that the provisions <br /> of the HSP are inadequate to provide a servic /project environment conducive to employee safety. <br /> Further, the SSO is to inform the Project Manager of any individuals whose onsite actions jeopardize <br /> either their health and safety or the health and Sal ety of others. <br /> 2.1.3 Consulting Certified Industrial Hygienist <br /> The Consulting CIH provides industrial hygiene and safety technical support to the Project Manager <br /> 6- and Site Safety Officer(SSO). In this capacity, sy he: <br /> • Provides training,as requested; <br /> 6. • Approves or recommends airborne sampling strategies and monitoring equipment; <br /> • Provides technical support for the selection a ad use of Personal Protective Equipment(PPE); and, <br /> 6 • Provides arbitration on project health and sat issues. <br /> 2.1.4 Project Field Staff <br /> All project personnel are responsible for: <br /> • Complying with the provisions of this HSP; <br /> L <br /> • Performing services in a manner that is consi tent with good health and safety practice; and <br /> • Reading and being knowledgeable of the con ents of this HSP. <br /> 6. <br /> 2.2 Personnel Training <br /> 2.2.1 General Site Employees <br /> Anticipated project soil characterization and r moval tasks to be performed under this HSP are <br /> considered Hazardous Waste Operations as defined by T8 CCR §5192 "Hazardous Waste Operations <br /> and Emergency Response." All project personnel will have successfully completed all applicable <br /> training requirements outlined in T8 CCR §5192 e), "Training" (40-hour Certificate and current annual <br /> Refresher Training). <br /> ` Site employees will attend a project orientation prior to starting the project. The orientation will review <br /> all elements of the HSP, including: 1)the location of potential health and safety hazards on the site and <br /> 2) requirements of the HSP. The training will also address other Cal/OSHA requirements such as the <br /> Geocon Hazard Communication Program(T8 CCR§5194), including the potential hazards of exposure <br /> Lto T22 metals (T8 CCR §§5214 Arsenic, 1532 Cadmium, 1532.1 Lead, 1532.2 Chromium VI), TPHg, <br /> Linden UST S[and Removal,Task Order No.34 Caltrans Contract 06A1895,EFTS 10-1300-0181-0 <br /> { Geo ua Project No.S9800A1-34 -4- October 2013,Revised September 2014 <br />
