Health and Safety Plan *Page 6 <br /> STOCKTON PROMENADE PROPERTY June 12,2008 <br /> WKA No.7345.05 <br /> 4.1 Project Superintendent <br /> The Project Superintendent is responsible for safety and health on the site. He is expected to <br /> perform the following actions during site operations: <br /> • Manage field operations. <br /> • Use the SSO to help implement the safety and health requirements. <br /> • Remain informed about company safety and health policies and programs affecting the <br /> Site. <br /> • Provide site-specific safety and health training to employees under his supervision. <br /> • Ensure that each employee is able to safely complete each task to which he is assigned <br /> and that equipment and machinery are maintained in safe operating condition. <br /> • Conduct inspections at thejob site to identify hazardous conditions and work practices. <br /> • Investigate and report accidents and near-accidents and implement corrective actions. <br /> • Report to the Project Manager any known or potentially unsafe or unhealthful conditions, <br /> (including those identified by employees under their supervision)which they cannot <br /> immediately correct or for which they require assistance in correcting. <br /> 4.2 Excavation Competent Person <br /> An Excavation Competent Person is defined in Title 8 CCR,Subchapter 4,Article 6, Section <br /> 1541 et seq. as one who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards that is <br /> unsanitary or dangerous to employees. The competent person has authority to impose prompt <br /> corrective measures to eliminate these hazards. The Excavation Competent Person has the <br /> authority to shut down operations until corrective actions are implemented. <br /> 4.3 Site Health and Safety Officer <br /> The Site Health and Safety Officer(SSO)advises the Project Superintendent on all aspects of <br /> health and safety at the site and can stop work if any operation threatens worker or public health <br /> or safety. He is expected to perform the following actions: <br /> • Select and periodically inspect protective clothing and equipment condition,use,storage <br /> and maintenance. <br />
