The perimeter
boundaries will be firmly established at the first tailgate safety meeting. Fencing and signs will
prevent public access. Pedestrian traffic will be prevented from coming into contact with
equipment or contaminants from the excavation and removal activities.
5.4 Work Procedures
Surface vegetation will be cleared. Soil will be removed using scrapers or excavators, and will
be transported to the designated stockpile staging in end-dump trucks. All work will be
conducted to prevent the resuspension of visible dust. The work will be monitored for visible
dust and dust suppression methods will be implemented to control visible dust(See Section 5.3.6
of the RAP).
If unidentified contamination is observed, work will be stopped and the Project Superintendent,
SSO and Project Manager will also be notified. Work will not resume in the affected area until
the contaminant is identified and safe work procedures established.
