Subsurface Environmental Investigation September 22 , 1988
City of Lodi Corporation Yard, Lodi, California AGS 38064-1
bases of each of the tanks. The diesel tank was removed and soil
was excavated from the tank cavity with an excavator. one soil
sample was collected from an approximate depth of 12 feet in the
excavation, or 2 feet below the base of and adjacent to the fill
port end of the former tank. No evidence of soil contamination
was noted in the sample, in the sandy fill material , or in the
walls of the excavation. The native soil consisted of slightly
silty, medium- to coarse-grained sand at the depth sampled. The
native soil in the upper part of the excavation consisted of
sandy, clayey silt.
The unleaded fuel tank had been constructed on a concrete pad.
Because the excavator could not penetrate the concrete, a sample
was collected from a depth of approximately 13 feet immediately
north of concrete pad at the western (turbine) end of the tank
cavity. This sample was selected, with the approval of the San
Joaquin Local Health District, because of its proximity to slight
indications of possible leakage (visible staining) near the
turbine port. The sample consisted of medium-grained sand.
An additional sample was collected from native soil immediately
east of the end of the concrete pad and subjectively inspected
but not analyzed. None of the samples collected showed
3
A,on/ied GeoSystelws
